KATHERINE CARSTENSEN
Katherine G. Carstensen, 87, LeMars, died Thursday, May 21, 1992, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars with Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Friday) with the family present from 7 to 8 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mrs. Carstensen was born Feb. 27, 1905, in LeMars to John J. and Katharina (Rewerts) Harms. She married George Carstensen on May 12, 1926, in LeMars. The couple farmed near Merrill from 1926 to 1946 and moved to LeMars in 1946. He died in 1972.
Mrs. Carstensen was a lifelong Plymouth county resident and was a homemaker and longtime Plymouth County Home employee. She was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars.
Survivors include two sons, Wendel and his wife, Gen, of LeMars and Ray and his wife, Lois, of Knob Noster, Mo.; two daughters, Alice Meins and her husband, Charles, of Warrensburg, Mo., and Mildred Tietjen and her husband, Willard, of Warrensburg, Mo.; two sisters, Theresa Engel of Sioux City and Hilda Harms of LeMars; two brothers, Fred Harms of LeMars and Clarence Harms and his wife, Beulah, of Hawarden; six grandchildren, Charles Meins Jr., Ph.D., Renee Hawkinson, Mark Foss, Vickie Case, Kimberly Parsons and Shiela Carstensen.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jurgen, Carl, Alfred, and Donald; a grandchild, June Meins, and a sister, Meta Eilers.
