KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Helen Seggerman Beers, 71, of Kingsley passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Helen was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Sherman, Texas. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1951 and attended business college in Burbank, Calif., where she met Gerald Seggerman.
She married Gerald Seggerman in August of 1964 in Kingsley, Iowa. She and Gerald lived on a farm outside of Kingsley until Gerald's death in 1982.
Helen loved life, spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping, volunteering, tap dancing and helping people. She was a 20-year EMT for the Kingsley Ambulance Department and a CNA at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen. She also volunteered at the nursing home as activities director and at the CSADV.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kingsley, UMW, the Red Hat Society, the Crimson Glories and a tap dancing club called the "Happy Hoofers".
Survivors include her husband, Don Beers; two daughters, Pam Locklear of Kingsley and Brenda Seggerman of Madison, Wis.; and her pets, Mitzi and Tigger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gerald Seggerman; a brother, Jim Boatwright; and her mother-in-law, Emily Seggerman.
