LE MARS, Iowa -- Lauretta B. Becker, 84, of Le Mars passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Timothy Olsen of Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lauretta B. Becker was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jayhue and Ethel Leora (Flemming) Arnett. She was raised and educated in the Greenville area of Sioux City.
On May 23, 1936, she and Herman Walter Becker were united in marriage in Elk Point, S.D. In 1938, the couple moved to Le Mars. She was a day-care provider and worked as an Avon representative for 25 years. For the past two months, she was a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
She was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ and was active in the Ladies Aid. She was an avid doll collector and belonged to the Federated Doll Club. She also hosted various home parties for Tupperware and crafting.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and her husband, Carol and Jack Bensley of Odebolt, Iowa; four sons, Richard of Santa Barbara, Calif., Kenneth and his wife, Linda, Herman Jr. "Wally" and his wife, Donna, and James and his partner, Susan Begnoche, all of Le Mars; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Blair of Little Rock, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on June 6, 1995; an infant son, Mark Gordon Becker; and four brothers, Gordon, Walter, Robert and Charles.
