CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- E. Darlene Baker, 73, of Correctionville, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.
Darlene was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Andy T. and Eva (Ward) Martin. She graduated from Correctionville High School.
She married Eugene Baker on Aug. 20, 1946, in Anthon, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Correctionville until moving into Correctionville in 1970, where they built a new home. Darlene worked at Corner Hardware with her husband in a partnership with their brother-in-law.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served as memorial treasurer. She loved her flower garden, enjoyed painting and doing fancy embroidery.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene; two sons, Steven Baker of Sarasota, Fla., and Wesley and his wife, Roxann Baker of Correctionville; two grandchildren, Dusty and Misty; four sisters, La Vonne and her husband, Lloyd Todd, Ruth and her husband, Don Groth, Cheryl Harrison and Gloria and her husband, Eugene Willems; a brother, James and his wife, Noma Martin; a brother-in-law, Harold Arp; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley; three sisters, Lucille Hagedon, Lorriane Wiegert and Sharlotte Arp; and three brothers-in-law, William Hagedon, Robert Wiegert and Leon Harrison.
