HINTON, Iowa -- Allen B. Anfinson, 66, of Hinton died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, of injuries suffered in a farming accident on his acreage.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Terry Templeton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with a flag presentation conducted by American Legion Casper Post 477 of Hinton. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Anfinson was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Maskell, Neb., the son of Burdette and Irene (Birkley) Anfinson. He graduated from Obert (Neb.) High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. Following his discharge, he moved to Sioux City.

He married Beverly Jean Mesenbrink on Sept. 11, 1959, in Sioux City. The couple made their home on an acreage near Hinton. He was employed with Swift and Co. for 25 years. From 1985 on, he had been a truck driver. Most recently, he drove for Vander Kooi Trucking.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He had a very special relationship with each of his five children and eight grandchildren and found great joy in spending time with them. He enjoyed time with family and friends, having coffee and fellowship with neighbors and Saturday morning breakfast with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; three sons, Marc Anfinson and his wife, Julie of Hinton, Marty Anfinson and his wife, Lori of Lawton, Iowa, and Cory James Anfinson of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters and their husbands, Karla and Grady Marx of Sioux City and Kimberly and David Wenzel of Hinton; two sisters, Judy Beckman of Sioux City and Norma and her husband, Robert Luse of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Gail Anfinson of Hinton; eight grandchildren, Kelsey and Austin Anfinson, Mason, Hannah, Michael and Haley Anfinson and Morgan and Ross Wenzel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kevin; and a brother, Donald Anfinson.

Pallbearers will be Marc, Marty and Cory Anfinson, Karla and Grady Marx, Kimberly and David Wenzel and Scott Raasch.
