PLYMOUTH COUNTY PIONEER DIES

Jerry A. Britt, a resident of Plymouth county since 1871, passed away at his home in LeMars on Saturday, April 2. He had been in poor health for some time but was able to be out and around until about six weeks ago, when he suffered a stroke from which he has never recovered.

Jerry A. Britt was born at Garry Owen, Jackson Co., Iowa, on January 20, 1869, the son of Thomas and Hannorah Britt. And at the time of his death was 63 years, 2 months and 12 days old. He moved to Plymouth county with his parents in the spring of 1871, where they homesteaded in Union township. With his brother, Joe, he farmed in Union and Stanton townships all his life, until three years ago, when they both moved to LeMars where he lived until his death.

Mr. Britt was never married, and is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. James Carel of LeMars; Mrs. Catherine Carel, of Sioux City; Mrs. Charles Lite, of Hinton; James Britt, of Pipestone, Minn.; Joe and Tom Britt, of LeMars; twenty-two nieces and nephews also survive him to mourn his loss.

Funeral services was held at St. James Catholic Church Tuesday morning. Burial was made in the family lot in St. Joseph’s cemetery, in Lincoln township.
