Dated January 1, 1931OBITUARY
Otto Blankenburg was born September 5, 1910, unto Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blankenburg in Lincoln township, Plymouth county, Iowa.
On October 16, of the same year he was baptized and then became a member of the Holy Christian Church.
During the days of his childhood and youth he was nurtured in the truth of God’s Holy Word and after due instruction was confirmed on Palm Sunday in the spring of 1926.
Soon after his confirmation, he became a member of Trinity Walter League, the young peoples organization of the Lutheran church. He was a faithful and popular member, gladly working for the welfare of the organization and attending to the duties given him at various times. He was also a regular attendant at Divine Services and loyal to his Redeemer unto the last.
The deceased had been suffering with a cold for some time but that was not looked upon to be especially alarming. On the day before Christmas, however, he had to take to bed and early the next morning it became evident that he was being stricken with pneumonia. All medical and human care and skill proved futile and he passed away about 11 o’clock Christmas night.[1930]
A very large crowd gathered at the home and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon to pay their last respects to the departed. Rev. R. J. Torgler officiated and spoke words of comfort on John 3:2 to the sorrowing relatives and friends. Burial took place in Lincoln township Lutheran cemetery.
The deceased leaves to mourn his sad loss, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blankenburg; two brothers, Lester and Ralph; one sister, Evelyn; his grandfather, Peter Casper; his intimate friend, Louise Schoenrock; and a very large relationship and a host of sincere friends. He attained the age of 20 years, 3 months and 20 days.
