WALTER G. BUNJES
Walter G. Bunjes, 66, longtime LeMars resident, died Monday (Jan. 1, 1990) at Sioux City Marian Health Center after an extended illness.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars.
Visitation began at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Bunjes was born May 1, 1923, in Oldenburg, Germany, to George and Gesina Braahms Bunjes. He came to the United States in 1930, and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Dorothy M. Feller Nov. 9, 1946, at Remsen. He was the retired owner-operator of Bunjes Construction, LeMars. After his retirement he did shop work in his home until 1988.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy, of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Becky) Keither of Maurice and Mrs. Jim (Tina) Freking of Mesa, Ariz.; a son, Rocky (David) Bunjes and his wife, Susie, of LeMars; a brother, Heino Bunjes of LeMars; three sisters, Mrs. Wilma Vets and Mrs. Arnold (Hildegard) Hammond, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Gilbert (Mary) Morfitt of Minneapolis, Minn.; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Steven Walter Bunjes.
