CLIFFORD E. BOETGER

Clifford E. Boetger, 73, of LeMars, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.

Clifford Ernest Boetger was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Akron, the son of Ernest and Mary (Beelner) Boetger. He received his education at Richland, S.D., and Akron schools. On Feb. 25, 1944, he married Mildred Kluver at Elk Point, S.D. He owened and operated Cliff’s Tavern in LeMars from 1958 to 1967 and later operated the Dew Drop Inn. He had also worked construction for Christenson Bros. Construction, Bob Plueger Construction and Kenny Plueger Masonary. In 1969 the coupled to an acreage west of LeMars where they lived until 1985 when they moved to LeMars and managed Floyd Valley Apartments. Mildred died Sept. 27, 1986. He later married Margaret Ernest on May 18, 1992, in LeMars.

Mr. Boetger enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and fishing.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Carl and Gene Nelson of San Bernadino, Calif., Cathy and Darrell Schulz of LeMars, Bonnie and Larry Conner of LeMars, and Beverly and Jim Hanna of Waterville, Minn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jean Boetger of Remsen; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his wife, Margaret Ernst of LeMars; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Olive Boetger, and Darrell and Donna Boetger, all of Akron; a sister, Elaine McCormick of Downey, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; two brothers, Raymond and Oliver Boetger; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Schulz, Brian Coon, Mark Sturgeon, Monte Jost, Clifford Schulz and Jeff Dimmick.
