EDNA BLANKENBURG

LE MARS, Iowa – Edna Blankenburg, 77, of LeMars, died Saturday, May 6, 1995, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars with he Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Blankenburg, the former Edna Caroline Clement, was born Sept. 24, 1917, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Steer) Clement. She grew up in the Remsen/Kingsley area and attended rural schools. She married Ralph Blankenburg March 10, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. The couple farmed and operated a trucking business for many years in Lincoln Township. He died in 1971. She moved to LeMars in 1975 and had been a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center since November 1994.

Mrs. Blankenburg was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis and his wife, Garnet, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Wendell, of DesMoines; a sister Mabel Matgen, of LeMars; four grandchildren, Colleen Lang, Curt Blankenburg, Beth Jensen and Angela Blankenburg and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eldon and Wilbert Clement.
