Ann Plate, 59, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

Olive Ann Goodwin was born March 31, 1947, in Cherokee, the daughter of Wesley and Irene (Stoneking) Goodwin. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Central High School. On Sept. 19, 1964 Ann married James Lampe at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Sioux City and the Plymouth County area. They owned and operated Lampe Auto Sales in Merrill for many years. Four children were born to their union: Charlotte, Derik, Michelle and Chad.

On Nov. 23, 1990, Ann and Donald Plate were united in marriage at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Le Mars. Ann was presently employed at Sharon's Embroidery in Le Mars.

She sang with the Sweet Adelines, enjoyed sewing and camping. Some of her fondest memories were of mission trips to Majestic View Ministries in Montana.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Donald of Le Mars; four children and her grandchildren Charlotte and Ted Saliers and their daughter Grace of Urbandale, Derik Lampe of Merrill, Michelle and Shane Jasper and their children Noel, Layne and Madison of Le Mars, Chad and Mellissa Lampe and their children Whitney and Carter of Le Mars; her parents, Wesley A. and Irene Goodwin of Sioux City; a brother, Gary and Pam Goodwin of Westminster, Colorado, step-children and step-grandchildren Debra and Kevin Noble and their children Jonathan, Jamie and Jeffery of Le Mars, Douglas Plate of Nevara, Fla., and Donna Darnell and her children Terrance, Danielle and Desirae of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bert and Elsie Stoneking and Claude and Olive Goodwin; and a stepson, Duane Plate.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Dale Fopma and Chaplain Rosalind Wood will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service.
