Edna Lucille Bruscher, 87, of Le Mars, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at The Abbey of Le Mars.
Edna Lucille Bruscher was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Johnson Township, Plymouth County, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Peterson) Johansen. She attended country school near her home. Following her education she worked as a housekeeper for neighboring families.

On Aug.19, 1941, Edna and Mathias "Matt" Bruscher were united in marriage in Omaha, Neb. The couple moved to a farm east of Le Mars where they raised their family. In 1970 they moved to Le Mars to spend their retirement years. Matt died July 15, 1997. Edna moved to The Abbey of Le Mars on Nov. 8, 1995.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. While on the farm, she enjoyed gardening and canning.

Survivors include her children, a daughter, Judy Klave of Le Mars, a son Kenneth Bruscher and his wife Joan of Le Mars, and a daughter Lana Cornelius and her husband, Ray of Huxley; six grandchildren and their spouses, Ronald and Michelle Bruscher, Donald and Becky Bruscher, Kevin and Stacey Bruscher, Stacy and Joe Kaalberg, Justin Cornelius and Amanda Cornelius; nine great-grandchildren Alesha, Christopher, Samantha, Kenneth, Shelby, Michael and Dylan Bruscher, Tyler Kaalberg and MaKayla Cornelius; and a brother, Marvin Johansen of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Matt; an infant granddaughter, Jennifer Cornelius; and two brothers Jens "Bud" and Arnold.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 3-5 p.m. and a prayer service at 4 p.m. There was also one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
