W. G. (Bill) Anderson

W. G. (Bill) Anderson, 91, of LeMars, died Thursday, June 18, 1992, at The Abbey in LeMars.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars, with Reverend Robert Grupp officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday, with Masonic services by the Giblem Lodge 322 of LeMars at 7:30 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Anderson was born May 30, 1901, at Parker, South Dakota, the son of George B. and Nellie (Graham), Anderson. He married Frances B. Wood March 12, 1927, at Sioux City. He farmed in Union Township, Plymouth County, until retiring in 1969, when they moved into town. Mrs. Andersen died April 20, 1984.

He was first signer and incorporator and an officer of the Plymouth Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) and a past president of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau. He served as secretary and administrator of the Plymouth County Zoning Commission for many years. He was a member of the Union Township Presbyterian Church, where he had served as secretary of the Sunday school, trustee and elder. He was a member of the Giblem Lodge 322 and a past master, and a member and past high priest of Occidental Chapter 114. He was a member and past commander of Plymouth Commandery 75, a member of the Zodiac Council of Sioux City, a member of the Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple and past president of the Sahib unit. He was a member and past patron.LeMars Chapter OES. He was a member of the LeMars Lions Club and the LeMars Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include two sons and their wifes, John (Burt) and Ruth Anderson, of LeMars, and Ed and Sandy Anderson of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold.

A memorial has been established in his name for the Shriner’s Crippled Children's Hospital.
