Wilbur Ahlrichs
Wilbur Ahlrichs, 58, a life long LeMars resident, died Thursday (January 31, 1974) at veteran's hospital, Minneapolis, after a long illness. He has been at the hospital for the last month.
Wilbur Richard Ahlrichs was born September 21, 1915, in LeMars, the son of Edward and Sophia Bohlken. He resided at 401 7th St, SW, and was employed as a bricklayer. He was also an employee of the LeMars post office.
He was a member of the first United Methodist Church and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II.
His marriage to Esther Martfeld took place April 6, 1935, in LeMars.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Everett Staats officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under direction of the Mauer funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Esther, LeMars; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Joan) Warren, Riverside, California; Mrs. Marc (Colleen) Chapman, Maurice and Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Chapman, Sioux City; a son, Wilbur Richard Ahlrich, Jr., of LeMars; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Delaney, LeMars, and Mrs. Ace (Ida) Grau, Hialeah, Fla., and a brother, Alfred Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and a daughter.
