Marie Mae Huls

Marie Mae Huls, 83, Sioux City, a former LeMars resident died Sunday, (Jan. 7, 1990) at Sioux City Marian Health Center after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sioux City St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Graveside rites will be at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel at Sioux City.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The former Marie Woomer was born July 31, 1906, at Grinnell to James and Addie Atkinson Woomer.

She graduated from LeMars High School and attended Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls for three years. She taught rural schools in Plymouth County for ten years.

Her marriage to Peter H. Huls took place July 16, 1937, in LeMars.

The couple lived in LeMars following their marriage and moved to Sioux City in 1953.

She was amber of St. John’s Church and the Dorcas Circle of the church. She was a member of the LeMars Sunshine Club.

Survivors are her husband, Peter, of Sioux City; a son, Henry James Huls and a daughter , Betty Louise Huls, both of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laura.
