Mrs. Harold Kloster
[Martha Mae Bork – died September 2, 1986]Mrs. Harold (Martha Mae) Kloster, 82, of Remsen, died Tuesday at a Harlan hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. Rev. Myron Herzberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. in the Moeller Funeral Home at Remsen.
Mrs. Kloster, the former Martha Mae Bork, was born July 20, 1904, in Cherokee County to Nick and Ann Kollison Bork. She graduated from Marcus High School in 1921 and Westmar College in Le Mars with a BA degree in Education.
She taught in rural schools in Cherokee County. On March 3, 1931, she married Harold Kloster at Marcus. The couple farmed in Cherokee and Plymouth Counties and retired about 1960.
They then moved to Remsen where she taught in the public school system until 1969 when she retired. Mr. Kloster died in September 1985.
Mrs. Kloster was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid of the church.
Survivors are a son, LaVerne of Dubuque; a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Carol) Peters of Avoca; a brother, Dale of Marcus, a sister, Marie Nielsen of Marcus; and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Louise Petersen.
