Monday, August 21, 2006Myrne D. Bogh, 89, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Myrne Della Detloff was born April 28, 1917, on the family farm in rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Edward and Della (Weber) Detloff. Myrne attended and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1935. She later furthered her education at Western Union College in Le Mars earning her two-year teacher's degree. She then taught in area schools for the next fifteen years.
Myrne was united in marriage to Elmer Bogh on Jan. 14, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen. Myrne and Elmer farmed north of Remsen until retiring in 1980, at which time they moved to a home site north of Le Mars. Elmer died in 1988.
Myrne was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen. She enjoyed playing the organ and had played for events at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home. In recent years, Myrne attended church at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed volunteering for several organizations in the area and was honored for her volunteerism by the American Cancer Society. She was also an accomplished quilter and embroiderer.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Fern Detloff of Le Mars and several nieces and nephews.
Myrne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer in 1988; three brothers, Robert, Alfred, and Edwin Detloff; a sister in infancy; and three nephews, Donald, Robert, and Randall Detloff.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Interment was at 1 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation was after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present after 6 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued at the church Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers were Dave Laughton, George Laughton, Jim Peters, David Kruse, Wayne Pick, and Dave Hawkins.
