AKRON, Iowa – Mrs. Orel Chuck Banks, 79, of Akron died Saturday at her home after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. The Rev. Timothy Schott will officiate. Burial will be in the Ellendale Cemetery, rural Merrill. A scriptural vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the Schroeder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Banks, the former Nona Marie Mansfield, was born Jan. 26, 1907, near Hinton and was raised by Hannah DeRocher after the death of her mother. She married Orel Chuck Banks Aug. 6, 1934, in Sioux City. She taught rural schools in Plymouth County for many years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe of Akron; a brother, James of Westfield; four sisters, Alice Worden, Margaret Ream and Frances Moe, all of Sioux City and Lucille Hall, of Anaheim, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Orel (Nona) Banks

Mrs. Orel Chuck Banks, 79, of Akron, died Saturday (March 15, 1986)-at her home after a long illness.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. The Rev. Timothy Schott officiated. Burial was in the Ellendale cemetery, rural Merrill, under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. A scriptural vigil service was held Monday evening in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Jeff Banks, Jerry Banks, Jon Banks, Jamie Banks, Hugh Zavadil, Julie Zavadil, Jodi Bassart and Dave Bassart.

Mrs. Banks, the former Nona Marie Mansfield, was born Jan. 26,1907, hear Hinton, Iowa to Matthew and Martha Mansfield and was raised by Hannah DeRocher after the death of her mother. She married Orel Chuck Banks August 6, 1934 in Sioux City. She taught rural school in Plymouth county for many years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe of Akron; a brother, James of Westfield; four sisters, Alice Worden, Margaret Ream and Frances Moe, all of Sioux City and Lucille Hall of Anaheim, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters;
