Mrs. Peckenpaugh
Mrs. C. Mearl Peckenpaugh, 67, 1701 S. Helen St., Sioux City, died Monday afternoon (Aug. 15, 1977) at her home after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Peckenpaugh, the former Mary Alice (Mae) Bauerly, was born May 3, 1910, west of Merrill. She was married May 23, 1931, at Merrill. Her parents were the late Henry and Josephine Munsch Bauerly.
The coupled lived at Merrill until 1943 when they moved to Sioux City. Before marriage, Mrs. Peckenpaugh had been a rural school teacher in the Merrill area. She graduated from high school in Liberty township and attended Morningside College.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church, the altar society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters; Mrs. Donald (Mary) Kneifl, Ponca, and Mrs. Timothy (Marilyn) Blum, Sioux City; five brothers; Albert, Bloomfield, Neb.; Dave, Quincy, Calif.; Arnold, Castro Valley, Calif.; Melvin, Sioux City; and Milo, Alameda, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Lorretta Von Tersch, Elm Springs, Ark.; Mrs. John (Shirley) Bruns and Mrs. Lavena Wendhel, both of Sioux City, and seven grandchildren.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic church with Rev. Msgr. Frank Brady officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
Parish rosary will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel with the Catholic Daughters of America saying the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
