DEATH CALLS MRS. LLOYD ADAMSON AT DENVER JAN. 8

The death of Mrs. Lloyd Adamson Wednesday afternoon, January 8, at the Rocky Mountain Hospital in Denver came as a shock to the whole community. Mrs. Adamson underwent major surgery at the hospital Friday, December 20. A second operation was performed Tuesday December 31, from which she seemed to be making satisfactory recovery when complications set in causing her death. She was placed in an oxygen tent Tuesday and every effort made to save her life but all efforts failed and she passed away about 2:15 o’clock, just one day before her birthday anniversary.

Mrs. Adamson was a member of the Haxtun grade school faculty for several years. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Frida Wilson chapter of Eastern Star, the Haxtun Federated Woman’s club and the Haxtun Saddle club.

She is survived by her husband and son, Kay, her mother, Mrs. Stella Hinde of Haxtun, one sister, Mrs. Dolly Clark of Lamars, Iowa, seven brothers, Lee, Harold and Bob Hinde, all of Haxtun, Allen of California, Roy, Glen and Jack of Lemars, Iowa and a host of friends.

Arrangements for funeral services have not been made pending word from relatives in Iowa and California.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. LLOYD ADAMSON
Beautiful Eastern Star Rites Conducted at Graveside of Member

Funeral services for Mrs. Lloyd Adamson were held Saturday afternoon, January 11 at 1:00 o’clock at the Haxtun Methodist church, with Rev. Paul K. Corley in charge. The church couldn’t accommodate the crowd of friends and associates who gathered to pay final tribute to Mrs. Adamson, who Reverend Corley in his message described so fittingly as an ideal teacher, friend, wife and mother.

A ladies’ quartet composed of Mrs. J.B. Roush, Mrs. L.E. Taylor, Miss Phyllis Anderson and Miss Betty Sullivan, furnished the music with Mrs. R.L. Scott at the piano.

Members of the order of the Eastern Star attended the service in a body and conducted the services at the graveside. Mrs. Ace Goddard, worthy matron, Wallace Bruce, worthy patron, and Mrs. A. J. Petre, associate matron, performed the ritualistic service and were assisted by the five points, Mesdames Dana Archbold, H.D. Anderson, Frank Wilkens, Tom Moore, Jr. and Miss Doris Scott. The singing of "Star of the East" brought the service to a close followed by prayer by Reverend Corley.

Pallbearers were: Messrs. L.W. Griffith, Ace Goddard, T.E. Breezely, R.C. Nauman, Ray Phillips and Ace Goddard.

Myrtle Hinde Adamson, daughter of John and Stella Hinde, was born January 9, 1911 at Lemars, Iowa and died January 8, 1947, just one day before her 36th birthday anniversary. She received her elementary schooling in LeMars and graduated from the high school there. She attended Morningside College at Sioux City, Iowa, receiving her teacher’s certificate. She taught school two years in Iowa.

In June 1933 she married Lloyd Adamson in Dakota City, Nebraska and to them one son was born.

In 1935-36 Mrs. Adamson operated a ladies’ ready-to-wear business in Haxtun and in 1941 she operated a cafe. For the past three years she had been a teacher in the Haxtun grade school and the year prior to that time taught in the Sunbeam school district.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and son, Kay, her mother, Mrs. Stella Hinde, three brothers, Harold, Robert and Lee all of Haxtun, a brother, Allen, of California, a sister, Mrs. Dolly Clark, and three brothers, Ray, Jack and Glen, all of LeMars, Iowa and a host of friends.
