Helen M. McArthur
Helen M. McArthur, 84, 2500 S. Coral St., died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Christy Morningside Funeral Home. The Rev. David Nelson of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon today with the family present from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mrs. McArthur, the former Helen Darville, was born Dec. 13, 1901, in South Dakota. She graduated from LeMars (Iowa) High School and taught school at Wood School near LeMars for six years prior to her marriage to Irving McArthur April 14, 1926, rural Gayville, S. D. The couple lived near LeMars until moving to Sioux City in 1931. She was employed at the Goodwill Industries for 10 years where she was in charge of the sorting room until her retirement in 1966.
Mrs. McArthur was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Miriam Circle of United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband and two sisters, Ethel Burris of Sioux City and Cerelle Buss of LeMars.
