Lillian M. Gabel, 86, of LeMars died today (Thursday, April 20, 1989) at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Sioux City.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, LeMars, with Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Miss Gabel was born April 7, 1903, in Plymouth County to Milton and Lena (Harbst) Gabel. She was a lifelong Plymouth County resident and was a public school teacher for 45 years before retiring in 1967. She taught at Plymouth Country country schools and LeMars Community Schools at Merrill.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in LeMars.
Survivors are seven sisters, Mabel Herman and Mrs. Elmer (Martha) Philips of LeMars; Edith Burkett of Abilene, Tex.; Mrs. Ed (Alice) Willer and Mildred Stoel, of Akron; Leone Knowles of Council Bluffs; and Evelyn Gabel, of Santa Rosa, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
