Mrs. John Schuchard

Remsen, Iowa—Mrs. John Schuchard, 87, Remsen, died Monday at Orange City Community Hospital of a lengthy illness. (Date of death: 30 Oct 1978 per handwritten note on the scrapbook page]

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The Rev. Allen Brutlag will officiate. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Moeller Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schuchard, the former Martha Henrietta Neumann, was born Dec. 19, 1890, in West Hazelton, Penn. At age 7 she moved to Ocheyedan. She was married April 14, 1924, in Flandreau, S.D. They moved to Remsen in 1927. Mr. Schuchard died Dec. 8, 1973.

She was a Gold Star Mother.

Survivors include two sons, John of Akron and Raymond Hoeper, of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven daughters, Mrs. Michael Kranz of Chicago, Mrs. Erma Hurlbut of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Albert Lyons of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Albert Miller and Mrs. Ralph Miller, both of Bakersfield, Mrs. Edward Lang of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Patrick Kelley of Remsen; 37 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.
