Mrs. Homer Thoms

Mrs. Homer (Emma) Thoms, 82, lifelong Merrill and area resident, died Monday (Dec. 4, 1978) at St. Luke’s hospital, Sioux City, after a brief illness. She had been hospitalized eight days.

Emma Marcella Frish was born Aug. 12, 1896, near Adaville to Thomas and Mary Eulberg Frish. Her marriage to Homer Thomas took place Feb. 2, 1918, in LeMars. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last February.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home with Rev. J. Milton Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory gardens, LeMars.

Pallbearers will be Lauren Frisch, Donald Thoms, LaMont Schmid, Roger Schmid, Carl Durr and Wayne Anstine.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Homer, Merrill; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Eunice) Schmid, Kingsley, and Mrs. Carl (Loraine) Durr, Merrill; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Celia and Viola and by four brothers, Earl, Arnold, Lester and Lawrence.
