Eva Hawkins

Eva Hawkins, 92, of Maurice died Saturday (March 9, 1985) at Brentwood Care Center.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in LeMars. Rev. Leonard Root will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens in LeMars. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Hawkins, the former Eva Buss, was born July 8, 1892, at Carnes to Frank and Ida Smith Buss and lived in Plymouth County as a young woman. She married Merritt Hawkins March 1, 1916, at Elgin Township, rural LeMars. They farmed in Sioux County and had lived in Maurice for the last 30 years.

Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors are her husband; one son; Kenneth of Maurice; one brother, Harvey of LeMars; four grandchildren, Mrs. Lavern (Louann) Schmidt of Ireton; Roy, Gene and Mary Hawkins all of Maurice and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Buss.
