LeMars SentinelMildred O. Laudenschlager, 91, of Le Mars, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Mildred O. Laudenschlager was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Emery and Adele (Ahrens) Klemme. She attended Sayles and Mount Hope Schools. On Sept. 19, 1934, Mildred and Ernest Meske were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, by the Rev. Fred Meske. The couple farmed in Plymouth County, Iowa and Union County, S.D. Mildred attended Union Creek Lutheran Church, West Akron, Iowa. She was actively involved with Church Council, Sunday School, missions, and WELCA. Ernest died in 1963.
On Nov. 15, 1975, Mildred married Leonard Laudenschlager in Oakland, Neb. The couple made their home in Oakland until Leonard died in 1993. Mildred then moved to Le Mars to be closer to her family. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and participated in WELCA.
Mildred enjoyed visiting, spending time with her family, and playing almost any card game. She had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Home in Le Mars for the past three months.
Survivors include her daughters, Vanita Meske of Custer, S.D., and Yvonne Law and her husband, Don, of Le Mars; five grandchildren: Mark Olson and his wife, Cindy of Akron, Julie Bock and her husband, David of West Jordan, Utah, Teresa Birkley and her husband, John of Bronson, Sherri Permeswaran and her husband, Permes of Le Mars, and Lori Heil and her husband Doug of Mobridge, S.D.; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amanda Olson, Mindy Bock, Craig and Andrea Luesebrink, Vijay, Palani and Yashila Permeswaran, Katie and Joey Heil; sisters Betty Athens and Verla Mae Jacobs; brothers Daryl Klemme, Dale Klemme, and Kenneth Klemme; two sisters-in-law, Marge Scholten and her husband, Vic of Sheldon, and Deloris Meske of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ernest and Leonard; two sisers, Velma Groon and Ida Muth, and three brothers Howard Willms and Louis Willms, and Marvin Klemme.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary Landsness officiated. Burial was in Union Creek Cemetery, West Akron. Visitation began at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. There was also one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
Pallbearers were be Mark Olson, Doug Heil, Permes Permeswaran, John Birkley, Vijay Permeswaran, Craig Luesebrink, and David Bock.
