Primghar wedding for Rebecca Thunhorst and Robert VanderTuig

Rebecca Thunhorst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thunhorst of Primghar, and Robert VanderTuig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitch VanderTuig of Primghar were united in marriage June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran church in Primghar The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Louis Thunhorst, Le Mars. Other relatives also live in Le Mars and area, many of whom attended the wedding.

The double ring ceremony was performed by Pastor Dennis Heifner.

The chancel was decorated with floral arrangements of pink peonies and gold candelabra trimmed with large lavender bows. Entrance to the chancel was accented with greenery, pink and lavender
mums, and the aisle with white bells and colored streamers. The organist, Mrs. Donna Struve played the nuptial music and also accompanied Susan Van Heuvelen who sang "The Wedding Song" and Wayne Van Heuvelen who sang "Colour My World" and the "Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony.

The bride wore a gown of white polyester organza. Viennese rose and daisy motifs accented the high neckline, the sheer yoke of the bodice and cuffs of the full bishop sleeves. The bodice back
featured tiny self-covered buttons and a large satin bow. The A-line skirt, trimmed with lace motifs was gathered in the back and fell into a chapel train. Her high crowned Camelot headpiece
designed to match the dress held a triple tiered elbow length veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses, lavender carnations and baby's breath.

Mrs. Kay VanderPol of Belmond was matron of honor. She wore a pink floor length gown of semi-sheer material embossed with clusters of multi-colored flowers. It was styled with a high neckline edged with white lace and short puffed sleeves also trimmed with lace. She had a long pink ribbon in her hair and carried a nosegay of pink and lavender carnations. Mrs. Kathy Mackie of Spencer was bridesmaid and wore a lavender dress identical to that of the matron of honor a lavender ribbon in her hair and carried a nosegay of lavender and pink carnations. Larry VanderTuig of Des Moines served as best man. Rodney Vander Pol was groomsman. Richard and Robert Thunhorst served as ushers and candle lighters. The mother of the bride chose a pale blue floor length gown. The bride groom’s mother chose a turquoise floor length gown. Each wore a corsage of miniature pink carnations.

Special honored guests were the groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kreykes and Mr. Pete VanderTuig. A reception was held following the ceremony at fellowship hall. Following a wedding trip to St. Louis and Kansas City, the couple is at home at 303 4th St. NE, Orange City.
