2-15-1962Miss Elvira Mae Klemme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Klemme of Akron, exchanged wedding vows with Norman Eugene Nielsen of Akron [son of Melvin and Lois Nielsen], January 26 at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron.
Pastor Luther Meyer officiated at the double ring ceremony in a setting of white gladioluses and pink carnations. Dr. Leonard Brooks sang Oh Perfect Love and The Wedding Prayer and Ardis Tammen was the organist.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore, a floor length gown of white delustered peau de soie, featuring a sequin scoop neckline fitted bodice, and bouffant skirt. She wore a pearl necklace and single pearl earrings, a gift of the groom. Her butterfly-length veil of imported English silk illusion cascaded from a double crown of hairbraid with pearl-tear drops an aurora crystals highlighting the circle of the crown. She carried a cascade bouquet of red velvet roses and stephanotis.
The bride’s attendants were her cousins: Miss Yvonne Meske, matron of honor, and Miss Janice Tammen. They wore street length dresses made of Cantoni Italian velveteen in Fiesta pink fashioned with drape necklines, and 3/4 length sleeves. They had matching velveteen crowns with
circular veils and carried a cross swoop of white pompons ad pink carnations. Miss Terri Klemme, niece of the bride, was flower girl and was dressed in pink velveteen. The bridegroom's attendants were Merlin Nielsen, brother of the groom and Richard Rozell a friend of the couple. The ushers were Ronald Klemme, brother of the bride, and Roger Nielsen, brother of the groom. Gaynor Klemme, cousin of the bride, and Loren Nielsen, brother of the groom were candlelighters. The groom's party wore dark suits.The bride's mother wore a raspberry crepe sheath with crystal accessories. They both had pink and white carnation corsages.
A reception was held in the church parlors after the wedding for 210 guests.
After a trip to Des Moines, Mr and Mrs Nielsen are at home in Akron. The bride is a graduate of Akron high school and was formerly employed by the Security National Bank in Sioux City. Her husband graduated from Akron high school and is now employed at the Plymouth Co-Op Company in Akron.
The bride's and attendants' dresses were made by Mrs. Lloyd Port. The four-tier wedding cake was made by Mrs. Walter Young.
