Grant Couple Married Sixty Years Tuesday
Family Of Mr. And Mrs. Henry J. Plueger Observe Anniversary
Grant township, quietly observed their 60th wedding anniversary at their home Tuesday, Nov. 23. They were the guests of honor at a family party held Tuesday evening at their home. There were 60 members of the family and nearby neighbors present for the occasion. A short talk and prayer was given by Rev. F. O. Bunge and Hilbert Hennigs sang "The Lord's Prayer." The remainder of the evening was devoted to informal visiting. A late lunch was served from a tea table that was centered with a beautifully decorated two-tier wedding cake. The cake was baked and decorated by the couple's oldest granddaughter, Mrs. Herman Kruse. The couple received many cards, beautiful flowers and a substantial cash gift.
Mr. and Mrs. Plueger were married Nov. 23, 1888, in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dircks, in Grant township. The bride was Trinka Dircks. Rev. Bunger performed the wedding ceremony. The attendants were the bride's sisters, Mrs. Gertie Osterbuhr a n d Mrs.
Meta Plueger, and the bridegroom's two brothers, Charles arid Theodore Plueger. Charles Plueger was present at the 60th anniversary.The couple lived on the Dircks farm after their marriage and in 1925 they moved to the farm where they now live. They are the parents of eight children, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, most of whom were present for their anniversary. The children all live in either Grant or Johnson townships. Those living in Grant township are Mrs. Claus (Mary) Siebens, John, Bill, Henry, Richard Plueger and Mrs. Walter (Emma) Molzen, and Mrs. Herbert (Anna) Molzen and Fred Plueger in Johnson township.
