Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Keller of 220 1st Ave. SE, who were married on January 2nd, 1908, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, December 29, with their children. A family dinner was held at one o’clock followed by an afternoon of visiting.
Present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Keller’s children, their husbands, wives and their children: Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Crouch (Colene) of Cherokee, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Nelson (Barbara Jean) of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Keller, of Sioux City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Keller, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Keller, of Minneapolis. Mrs. F. L. Ponder (Gladys) and her husband of Prescott, Arizona, were unable to attend but visited their parents last summer.
Mrs. Keller was the former Etta Newell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Newell, early day Plymouth County residents. After her marriage to Walter Keller, the couple lived in LeMars and Cherokee.
The Keller’s have six children, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Keller was retired 4 years ago by the Illinois Central Railroad, for whom he worked as a brakeman for 35 years. Since their retirement, they have made their home in LeMars.
Mr. and Mrs. Keller were the recipients of many gifts, flowers, cards and congratulatory messages from their many friends in Cherokee and LeMars.
