DEATHS

THORA SORENSEN

Mrs. Thora Sorensen, 82, died Tuesday morning, February 1, 1966 at Estherville, Iowa hospital.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon, February 3, with a short prayer service at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger and the regular funeral services at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Graettinger, Iowa. Reverend O.J. Reitz officiated at the services. There was a large attendance at the funeral. Floral bouquets and Memorial offerings were numerous and were a tribute to the esteem in which the deceased was held by those who knew her best.

Mrs. Alan Hersleff sang "Abide With Me" and "Just As I Am" accompanied by Mrs. James Park, Organist.

Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery near Graettinger. Pallbearers were Clarion Paulsen, Leland Knutsen, Merle Suss, Floyd Eaton, Jorgen Larsen and Lawrence Skow.

Thora Larsen Sorensen was born near Nevada, Iowa, June 12, 1883 and died February 1, 1966, age 82 years, 7 months, 19 days. On January 25, 1905 she was united in marriage at Nevada, Iowa to Knud Hansen Sorensen. To this union were born five children, Mrs. Florence Christine Nichtern of Riverton, Wyoming; Harvey Clarence Sorensen of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Bernita Norma Rusk of Algona, Iowa; Margaret Sophie Thim of Ruthven, Iowa; Esther Arlene Tyler of Maxwell, Iowa, all of whom live to mourn their mother. There are 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

The couple engaged in farming and continued to make their home in Story County until 1914 when they moved to their newly purchased farm near Ruthven, Iowa. They resided on the farm until 1943 when they moved to Graettinger. Mr. Sorensen passed away March 22, 1952.

Beside her children Mrs. Sorensen leaves to mourn her death, a sister, Mrs. Anna Paulson of Ames; brothers Pete, Fred and William Larson of Nevada, Iowa, Walter Larson of Des Moines and Albert Larson of Huntington Beach, California. Her parents Christian and Christina Larsen and a half brother Hans Larsen preceded her in death.
