Another Pioneer Gone.

Mr. Martin Laughlin died at his home in Walnut township Sunday evening last at the advanced age of seventy-six years. Mr. Laughlin has been a resident of Palo Alto county for thirty-two years. During his early years he was an active participant in the working forces of life, and moderate success crowned his efforts. He was a man of regular and correct habits, which contributed largely to his length of days. No assignable cause is given for his death, save that of his advanced years. Like a shock of corn, fully ripe for the harvest, and he was gathered home. Besides his aged companion, ten years his senior, three sons, Lott, John, and Pat Laughlin, and one daughter, Mrs. T. H. Tobin, survive him. The husband and father has been laid away to rest, and only those who have experienced a similar sorrow can measure the grief of these mourners, as they contemplate the aged father's vacant place at the fireside. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church Tuesday, and the large number in attendance attested, to the universal respect held for the deceased in the community.
