Feauto, Michele 1955-2009

Michele Feauto passed away Sunday, July 19th at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the company of her loved ones after a long battle with liver disease. Shelly was born to Albert C. and Elizabeth Laubenthal in Spencer, Iowa. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1973 and received a BA from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake in 1978.

Michele married James Feauto of Akron in 1978. For the last 28 years she has resided in Akron, Iowa near her 6 children. Michele was the oldest of six children; Lisa, Molly, Albert III, James and Nick. Michele raised 6 children in the Akron area; Anna, Abby, Emily, James, Joe and “Gus”.

Michele loved her large family and really enjoyed having them all together. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed nothing better then making large meals for her family and friends. Her meals, and the loving smile she served them with, will be greatly missed by many. Michele will be remembered for her kindness and compassion to others. She was always willing to do whatever she could for the aid of others, despite her own circumstance. Michele was a wonderful musician. She taught herself to play the guitar during high school as well as her dear friend, Sue Muth. Through the years she and Sue played at church together. Michele’s voice was a gift from God that will be remembered by many. Michele also loved to knit hats and scarves for others, spend time with her granddaughter Rose, and enjoyed many different crafts.

Michele is survived by her children and granddaughter, Anna Witt, husband, Allan and their daughter, Rose of Akron; Abby Feauto of Newport Beach, CA; Emily Feauto of Vermillion, SD and her special friend, Aaron Sudbeck; James Feauto of Akron; Joseph Feauto of Akron; and Andrew “Gus” Feauto of Akron; mother, Elizabeth Laubenthal; her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, Lisa Oberg, her husband, David and their daughter, Alexis; Molly Schneider, her husband, Randy and their children, Tyler and Laura; Albert Laubenthal III, his wife, Julie and their children, Ali and Alex; and Nick Laubenthal, his special friend, Amanda Ziemke and MAX; close friends, Sue and Terry Muth; special cousins, Julie and Mike Laubenthal; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shelly is preceded in death by her father, Albert C. Laubenthal; brother, James Laubenthal; grandparents, Jim and Alice Cragin and Doctor A.J. and Rose Laubenthal; parents-in-law, Vince and Rose Feauto; and many aunts and uncles.

Outreach Africa is a charitable organization very near and dear to Shelly’s heart. Memorials will be distributed to The Light in Africa Orphanage in Tanzania in Shelly’s memory.
