Charles C. Bahls
Called in Death

Charles C. Bahls, 83, respected Emmetsburg citizen, died at his home on West 17th street Wednesday of this week. Mr. Bahls’ death was due to old age and its complications. As the Democrat goes to press definite arrangements for the funeral have not been announced. The remains are being prepared for burial in the Foy Funeral Home in this city.

Charles C. Bahls was born in Germany, on January 11, 1859. He came to America at an early age. Sixty-three years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Glawe. She passed away in this city five years ago.

Mr. Bahls is survived by twelve sons and daughters. They are Miss Clara Bahls, Emmetsburg; Mrs. Vance Giles, Ruthven; Mrs. Jennie Christensen, Newton; Mrs. William Peterson, Frankfort, S.D.; Edward, Robert and Harold Bahls, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. R. H. Nye, Sheridan, Wyoming; Mrs. Anna Walker, Hampton, Ia.; Mrs. Chas. McDonald, Sioux Falls, S.D.; William Bahls, Spencer, and Mrs. Herman Wolfe, Milford. There are also two brothers and a sister. The brothers are Henry and August Bahls, Brookings S.D. The sister is Mrs. Carrie Blankenburg, Charitan, Ia.

The Democrat is unable to give further details regarding the life of Mr. Bahls. He was for fifty years a resident of this vicinity. He farmed in this community for many years, moving to Emmetsburg a few years ago where he bought the residence he occupied on West Sevententh street. He was a mild-mannered gentleman, honest, peace-loving and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
