Mrs. Anna M Sloan, one of the pioneer women of Rodman passed away at her home at 1:45 Thursday night.
She was the daughter of Samuel and Sara Walker. She was born May 16, 1856 in Marion County, Indiana.
At the age of 6 weeks she, with her parents, moved to Monroe County Wisconsin driving two team of oxen to make the trip.
Here she spent the early years of her life. Moving to Palo Alto County Iowa in 1892.
Her husband, David Sloan, preceded her in death in 1917. She is survived by one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. J.A. Leonard of Rodman; and Calla Wilson of Baltimore, Maryland, whom she raised from infancy. There are 4 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
When a young woman she became a member of the United Brethern Church, later joining the Presbyterian Church at Rodman. Mrs. Sloan was always active in church work when able. She will be much missed in the community as she was always ready and willing to help friends and neighbors in time of sickness of trouble. (Written by Mary Sweely)
