From the diary of Karen Peterson’s Mother:
“My mother had a diary for almost every year of her life from high school on. On September 3, 1963, she has written, "Mom called and said Uncle Cal died last night." On September 7, 1963, she has written, "Took (my aunt and uncle) along to Uncle Cal's funeral in Emmetsburg. Saw Mildred, Zella, Lyle B., Bonnie and family." “

James Calvin Boster was born May 11, 1875 in Jasper County, Illinois to William and Clarinda "Clara" (Neal) Boster, and departed this life on September 2, 1963. He married Miss Alice Lavina Nicholas on November 10, 1903 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. To daughters were born to this union: Zella Eleanora and Mildred Lucille Boster. Family records show James Calvin Boster was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
