Death of Mrs. Ann Mohan

She Died at the Home of Mrs. Joe J. Steil on Thursday.

Mrs. Ann Mohan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe J. Steil, of this city, last Thursday after an illness of some duration. The funeral was held Saturday forenoon. Services were conducted at Assumption church, Very Rev. J. J. Smith officiating. The burial was in St. John's cemetery. The pall bearers were John J. Steil, David Joynt, T. W. Millea, Michael Roache, Owen McNulty and Edward McNally.

The maiden name of the deceased was Ann O'Keefe. She was born at Mullingar, county of West Meathe, Ireland, December 20, 1835. She came to America when a young lady. In 1864 she was married at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to John Mohan. Mr. and Mrs. Mohan came to Emmetsburg in 1881 and subsequently resided here. Mr. Mohan died during the winter of 1907. The deceased is survived by six daughters -- Mrs. Philip O'Connor, of Graettinger; Mrs. Joseph James, of Madison, Wisconsin; and Mesdames J. D. McCarty, Joe J. Steil, John Carney, and W. S. Palmer, of Emmetsburg.

Twenty-seven years of the life of the deceased was spent in this city. She was a worthy woman and was an obliging friend and a kind, charitable neighbor. She was sincere in her convictions and she practiced her duties in life perseveringly in the light in which she saw them. Her daughters are among the most estimable women of our city, showing well the good influence on their lives of the thoughtful, zealous, protectress of the Christian home. All will, of course, sadly miss her, for though advanced in years, earnest loving hearts can never forget the ties that in childhood and later in life bound them to the affectionate, solicitous, faithful mother. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends and neighbors is extended to them in their bereavement.
