Old Time Resident Is Laid To Rest Mon.

Mrs. Thomas O'Connor Survives Her Husband By Only Five Months.

Mrs. Thomas O'Connor died Friday, June 19. She had been in poor health for a long time and especially so since the death of her husband some five months ago.

Funeral services were held at St. Thomas church at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 21. Rev. Schorn conducted the service and celebrated a requiem high mass. Burial was in St. John's cemetery. The pallbearers were Charles Duhigg, E. M. Thompson, Paul Schaney, P. C. Neary, W. I. Branagan and W. H. Walsh.

Miss Mary C. Riley was born at Toledo, Iowa, July 14, 1857. She grew to womanhood there. In September 1882 she united in marriage with Thomas O'Connor at that place. They came to Emmetsburg shortly after their marriage and subsequently resided here. Four children, three sons and one daughter, were born to them. One son died when only a baby. The other children survive. They are Charles of Coleman, S. D., Leo of this city and Mrs. Edward Hodgkins of Quincy, Ill.

Some years ago Mrs. O'Connor was one of the prominent women of our city. She made friends readily and was popular with all who knew her. She was an excellent housekeeper and homemaker. She was most faithful and dutiful as a wife. There never was a more loving or indulgent mother than she. Her heart and soul were wrapped up in her home and family. She was a thoroughly good woman, conscientious in all she did. She was a good christian, and an ardent Catholic. She lived according to the dictates of conscience and performed well the duties that were hers. She has many friends who entertain only the kindliest memories of her.

Besides her three children she is also survived by one brother, Melvin Riley of Amboy, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Barnhart of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Charles Lufkin of Houlton, Oregon, and Mrs. Viola Johnson of Moscow, Idaho. To them all the Tribune bespeaks a word of sympathy.
