Mrs. Michael Dwyer Dead

Her Death Occurred at Dubuque on Thursday.

Last Thursday Mrs. Michael Dwyer, who for many years made her home in this city, died at Dubuque. She had, we understand, been ill for some time. The remains were brought to Emmetsburg Friday and were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Carmody to await interment. The funeral took place Saturday forenoon. Services were held at Assumption church, Very Rev. P. F. Farrelly officiating. The ladies of the W. C. O. F., of which she was a member, attended in a body. The burial was in St. John's cemetery. The pall bearers were John J. Deneen, Henry Selle, Edward Ryan, James Carmody, M. F. Brennan, and Daniel Sherlock.

Julia Agnes Leonard was born in the county of Cork, Ireland, January 1, 1865. Hence she was in her 52nd year. She came to the United States in April, 1884, and located in Emmetsburg. She was married at Assumption church in January, 1887, to Michael Dwyer. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer made their home here. Mr. Dwyer died in March, 1910. Some time ago Mrs. Dwyer went to Dubuque where she subsequently resided. Mrs. Dwyer is survived by her four sons. Joseph F., Michael, and Patrick live in this vicinity. The present location of the fourth son, Wm. J., is not known.

Mrs. Dwyer was a most exemplary Christian woman and was an obliging, helpful neighbor. She gave close and painstaking attention to her duties as a wife and mother and she was industrious and frugal. She was a faithful and practical member of her church and she passed away fortified by the many consolations it gives to those who live up to its precepts. She was a woman of strong friendships. She would go to extremes to manifest her loyalty to those who were her intimate associates and friends. All who know her will mourn learn with deep regret of her death at a comparatively young age in life. The Democrat unites with the many who knew her for thirty years or more in offering sincere sympathy to the surviving sons.
