The Palo Alto Tribune, Emmetsburg, Iowa, Wednesday, July 3, 1918
In our last issue, we made mention of the death of Michael Molloy, which occurred at his home in this city on Sunday, June 23, after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were conducted by Father Veit at the Assumption church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, and the interment made in St. John’s Cemetery.

Michael Molloy was born on January 4, 1864 in Allamakee County. When only a boy he came to this country with his parents and located in Great Oak Township. Here he grew to manhood. In 1905, on June 26, he united in marriage with Miss Agnes Bannon. They lived on their farm for a period of about seven years. In 1912 they came to Emmetsburg. Later they went to St. Paul and again returned to Emmetsburg, where they have since made their home. The deceased has been known in this community all of his life, and has been recognized as a gentleman of honor and integrity. He was reliable and when his promise was once given it could be relied upon implicitly. He was a good neighbor, cordial, and where he could help, it was a pleasure for him to do so. He was a good citizen, as well, never shirking a duty. In his family relations, too, he did well his part. He was an obedient son, a kind brother, and a true and dutiful husband. Besides his wife, one sister, Miss Ellen Molloy, survives him. She being the only living member of his father’s family. Two sisters, Mrs. Chris Conlon and Mrs. John Farrell died some years ago and two brothers William and Patrick, both died within the past nine months.

Not often is a family called upon to undergo the sorrow of so many deaths within so short a period of time. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family under their exceptional stress of grief.
