OBITUARY: MRS. JOHN I. FERRIN; "BULLETIN JOURNAL" Independence, Iowa; April 9, 1896
Mrs. John I. Ferrin died at her home in Fremont township, Wednesday evening, April 12, 1896, after a brief illness.
Amy Booth was born in this state [Rodman,Iowa] October 6, 1868. When but a child she came to this county [Buchanan] with her parents and for years made her home in the vicintiy of Quasqueton. Her marriage to J.I. Ferrin occurred December 28, 1885, since which time she has lived in Fremont township. She leaves a husband, two little girls, aged 7 and 9 years, two brothers and one sister to mourn her death. Mrs. Ferrin was a faithful Christian and a member of the Whitney M.E. church. The funeral, which was very large, was held at that church Friday, at 11 o'clock a.m., Rev. Foote preaching an excellent sermon from Numbers 23:10, after which the remains were interred in the Flemming [Fremont] cemetery. Many beautiful flowers were contributed by friends, In the loss of a devoted wife, mother and sister the breaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends.
