Patrick Kelly Services to Be Held Saturday

Funeral services for Sgt. Patrick F. Kelly, 23-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelly of Emmetsburg, will be held Saturday morning at 1030 o'clock at Assumption Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. F. Mason officiating.

The rosary will be recited at the Martin Funeral Home Thursday and Friday evenings at eight o'clock. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.

It has been learned Sgt. Kelly died of injuries received in a fall when he slipped and his head struck the pavement in Germany, where he had been stationed. The name of the base was not immediately revealed.

He was with two companions at the time of the tragedy. He was taken to a hospital where he died later. This information was obtained from a fellow GIs of Emmetsburg, Pfc. William Murphy, who sent a letter to his mother with a clipping about Pat's death.

"I was shocked," he wrote his mother, "to read of what happened to Pat."

Bill is stationed at an undisclosed army base near Bomberg, Germany, which is only 40 miles from the Iron Curtain. The clipping was from an army newspaper.

Martin's was notified the body arrived in New York City Saturday with Sgt. E5 Bart T. Mitchell as escort. It will arrive in Albert Lea, Minnesota, by rail Wednesday afternoon and be brought here by Martin's. Sgt. Mitchell will accompany the body here
