Mrs. Nick Martini Funeral Services at Assumption

Mrs. Nick Martini, 98, a resident of Palo Alto County for 96 years, died Friday evening at her home. She was one of the oldest persons in Emmetsburg and died after a five month illness.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at Assumption Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor W. F. Mason officiated and burial was in St. John's Cemetery with Martin's in charge of arrangements.

The former Ellen Theresa Carroll, Mrs. Martini was born in Jefferson, S. D. January 1, 1965 [sic] and moved to this area when she was two years old. In June 1899 she married Nick Martini and for many years she and her husband were engaged in farming at Cylinder. About 40 years ago they moved into Emmetsburg. Mr. Martini died in 1958.

Survivors include four children: Mrs. James Kane and Gene Martini of Emmetsburg, Robert Martini of Barrington, Illinois and Edna Martini of Austin, Minnesota. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Martini was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Pallbearers included Leo Kane, Robert Kane, Joseph Kane, William Kane, Nick Martini and John Mosbach.
