Funeral services for Kirk Ronald Schafer, 34, were held Friday, August 16, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Ed Tiedman and Rev. Merle Kollasch officiating. Burial was in the West Bend Cemetery ,West Bend.

Casket Bearers were Matt Marzen, Les Traub, Jim Grimmius, Matt Elbert, Jason Moser, and Mike Bodholdt.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Kyle, Ronald, Kelly, Kregg, Kasey Schafer and Don Kesterson.

Kirk R. Schafer, the son of Ronald and Rosemary (Hoch) Schafer, was born October 3, 1971, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was educated and graduated from the West Bend High School. He married Julie Prentice in West Bend and the couple had three children, Kyle, Kelsey and Jordan. Kirk owned his own landscaping business for awhile, drove truck for his father and most recently had started his own trucking firm called Kirk Schafer Trucking. Kirk passed away August 13, 2006, the result of a vehicle accident.

Survivors include his children, Kyle, Kelsey, and Jordan of West Bend, his father Ronald Schafer, West Bend, his mother Rosemary Schafer, West Bend, grandmother Maxine Hoch of Emmetsburg; brothers, Kelly, West Bend; Kregg (Stephanie), West Bend; and Kasey (Kayla), West Bend; and special friends, Kelly Woizeschke and her daughter Ashley of West Bend; and Laura Berdt, West Bend. Kirk was preceded in death by his brother Kyle and grandparents, Nicholas Hoch, Sr.,Louis Schafer, Jr., and Marie Schafer

Kirk was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church of West Bend. He enjoyed being outdoors including snowmobiling, four-wheeling and camping.

Harris Funeral Home of West Bend handled the arrangements.
