1937-2006

Dean A. Banwart, 69, of West Bend died Saturday, June 17, 2006 as the result of a tractor/train accident in the rural West Bend area. Services were held Thursday, June 22nd, 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, West Bend. Visitation was from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Fellowship Center, West Bend. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend handled the arrangements.

Dean Albert Banwart, the son of Walter and Esther (Keller) Banwart was born February 21, 1937 in West Bend. He attended country school and graduated from West Bend High School in 1955. On March 26, 1977 he married Irene Meyer in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Dean farmed his entire life in the West Bend area, moving to town in 2003. He also served 8 years in the National Guard and attended college for a short time while in Manhattan, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Irene, West Bend and his children, Terry (Deb) Banwart of West Bend, Connie (Andy) Girres of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Pam (Dailey) May of the Colony, Texas and Alan of Overland Park, Kansas, seven grandchildren, and his sister, Janet (Roger) Knobloch of Rock Rapids, Iowa along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther Banwart.
