Services for Merle Raymond Winn, 89, Red Oak, were Thursday, April 22, at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. Mr. Winn died Sunday (April 18, 1993) at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

He was born Feb. 8, 1904, in Montgomery County to John and Ella (Crees) Winn, was a lifelong resident of Red Oak and was the oldest member of the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department. He was also involved in the Isaac Walton League of Stanton and Red Oak Masonic Lodge #152 A.F. & A.M. He worked for the Iowa Highway Department until retiring in 1965 and was the last of 10 children in his family. Memorials are suggested to Red Oak Rescue Unit.

Survivors include one son, Jim Winn of Bufurd, N.C.; two daughters, Jeanette Mirts of Red Oak and Jean DeWitte of Healdsburg, Calif., 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one special "grandchild", Joel.
