Burlington, Iowa, Oct. 23 - E.B. Shoemaker, editor of the Clarinda (Iowa) Herald, died in this city to-day at the residence of W.E. Tomlinson. He was on his return from the late editorial excursion to St. Louis, and, on reaching this city, was taken sick and died this morning.

His remains, accompanied by his family, went west this evening.

He served during the war, and was promoted to Major of the Twenty-ninth Iowa Infantry, and at the close of the war again took charge of the Clarinda Herald, of Page County.
