Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Dean(*) Jacobs were held Friday afternoon from the M.E. church at Melvin, conducted by the Rev. Stanworth. Burial was in Baker township cemetery. Short services were also held at the home at Luverne.

Mrs. Hattie Dena(*) (Buchholz) Jacobs was born April 18, 1895, in Baker township. There she grew to womanhood. She passed away February 3, 1937, at Luverne, Minn., after complications set in following a major operation.

July 15, 1914, she was united in marriage to George R. Jacobs. To this union two children were born, Floyd and Lyola. In 1926 the family moved to Lester, Iowa, where they made their home until 1931 in which year they moved to Luverne. Here she united with the First Presbyterian church and Friendship Circle in which she was an ardent and loyal worker. She was closely associated with the M.E. church while a resident of Melvin, and also a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, George R. Jacobs, two children, Floyd, 18 years old and Lyola, 9. Six brothers, Will of Everly, John, Fred, Alfred, Frank and Louis of Melvin.

Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral of Mrs. George Jacobs Friday were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scherzer of Luverne, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jacobs of Fairmont, Mr. and Mrs. John Graves and family, Carl Wassman and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kout of Ocheyedan.

(*) Transcriber's Note: Find-a-grave records indicate Hattie Jacobs was the daughter of August and Fannie Buchholz. Her middle name is noted as Denna, not as Dean or Dena as written in the newspaper obituary.
