Last Sunday evening at 11 o'clock the angel of death entered the Ernest Kruckenberg home and claimed the life of a beloved wife and mother. Although ailing for many years with a chronic affliction, Mrs. Kruckenberg was bedfast under her recent illness only a short time. Thus another of northwest Iowa's pioneers has gone to her reward. The deceased attained unto the age of 55 years, 4 months and 2 days, the last 36 years of which were spent in Osceola county.

Dorothy Marie Elizabeth Bieckmann was born Sept. 4, 1873, at Lowden, Ia., where she was baptized into the faith of the Lutheran church. On April 3, 1877, she was confirmed in this faith and through her whole life she remained a faithful and devoted Lutheran. On Jan. 28, 1892, the deceased was united in marriage with Ernest Kruckenberg, her surviving husband. In the same year the young couple came to northwest Iowa and established their home on a farm in Osceola county, about six miles north of Hartley. On this farm the deceased spent all the years of her married life, laboring by the side of her husband as a true helpmeet and a devoted mother. Eleven children were born into the family, nine of whom are still living. Two daughters, Hilda and Elsie, died in infancy. The living children are Mrs. Otto Burkhardt of Nevis, Minn.; Mrs. Walter Wendt, of Lowden, Ia., and Julius, Henry, Fred, Herman, Sarah, Albert and Arthur Kruckenberg, all of Hartley.

Mrs. Kruckenberg's funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church. Rev. A.C. Weber officiating. A quartet sang suitable hymns. The pallbearers were the six sons. Interment took place in the Harrison cemetery. The sympathy of friends and relatives goes out to the bereaved husband and family.
