J.H. Kout Is Dead

The body of J.H. Kout, a prominent and wealthy citizen of Ocheyedan, was brought to Sibley last Thursday evening on the way home for burial.

Mr. Kout died on that day in a hospital at Sioux City, where he had gone for treatment. The Sioux City Journal says his disease was spinal meningitis. He was nearly 60 years of age.

Mr. Kout was born in Lawler, this state. He had lived in Ocheyedan about thirty five years, engaging first in the mercantile business and later in farming. He was married in Sibley, April 22, 1897, to Miss Edith Hesebeck, who with a son and daughter survives him. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Father O'Reilly of Sibley.

NOTE: Gravestone records indicate that Joseph Hurbert Kout was the son of Mathias and Margaretha (Konzen) Kout
